calculated in the total distance). ●

be required for verification. ●
A

One
way or delivery voyages are not eligible. The winner is to be selected by an Awards committee of one or more
members appointed each year by the club executive and the Committee is to be
chaired by the Fleet Captain. Sailors
Award: This Award is to recognize
and encourage participation in the boating life particularly for, but not
exclusive to, new boaters. This Award is to be presented annually to a member of the Club. The
member can be a skipper or crew member of a keel boat or power boat. The
winner is to be selected by a committee of one or more members appointed each
year by the club executive and the Committee is to be chaired by the Fleet
Captain.
The Committee will
award the trophy to a member who ‘has
become a sailor’, considering the following points and others they may feel fitting: ● May be a person new to boating or newly accepting of boating
responsibility as a skipper or member of a crew. ● Ability to operate a boat under trying conditions. ● Ability to be a useful sailor. ● To have achieved an acceptable standard in both pilotage and
seamanship. ● To have exercised the above skill and suffered some degree
of cold, wetness and hardship without undue complaint. As this award indicates that the recipient has attained an
acceptable level of competency, it is not expected that it will be awarded to
the same person more than once. In the event that the Committee feels that no
member has qualified in any one year, no award is to be made. Nominations with
details will be accepted at any time during the boating season. Good

distressed sailor or vessel. Such assistance would not be in the normal duties
of the person providing assistance. Some examples may be; providing a tow,
