The Lewisporte Yacht Club (LYC) is the social group for boaters at the Lewisporte Marina. The executive and related committees operate the clubhouse, organize social activities, and act as a common voice for LYC members.
The LYC clubhouse offers members an informal, relaxing environment overlooking the docks. It has modern and clean showers and laundry facilities and is fully accessible. The kitchen and barbeques are available to both members and visiting crews. Friends, new and old, can often be found inside the building sharing good food and cruising tales.
The LYC also maintains many moorings at popular locations throughout the Bay of Exploits. These are free for our members to use.
The Lewisporte Marina is a modern, well-maintained facility located in the spectacular Bay of Exploits. It is a gateway to Notre Dame Bay, which offers some of the best cruising in Eastern North America. The dozens of islands make for a sheltered boating area, containing many safe anchorages.
There is a locally produced Notre Dame Bay Cruising Guide that is a salient reference and is available from marina staff, as well as various marine stores and booksellers.
The Club hosts many social events during the sailing season, as well as the annual Harbour Cup Race and Parade of Lights held during the Lewisporte Mussel Bed Soiree in August.
The marina is proud to be the home to a Canadian Coast Guard Inshore Rescue base for the safety of our members and visiting boaters.
The Town of Lewisporte has many amenities within walking distance of the marina and is replete with Newfoundland charm and hospitality. The LYC maintains some bicycles for members and visitors to use to get around town.
The Lewisporte Yacht Club and the Lewisporte Marina Administrative Authority are also proud sponsors of the annual Health Foundations Regatta. All proceeds of this charitable event support health programs and services throughout Central Newfoundland.
